Stamped “ALIX APARIS”, Georges-Francois Alix (1846–1906), Paris, last third of the 19th century. A splendid bombé and serpentine mahogany-veneered and marquetry-decorated oak cabinet with filigree bronze mounts. The lower section has a roll top and 6 drawers made of solid amaranth and a gold-embossed leather surface over a central niche. The clock atop has a spring-driven mechanism striking the half hours on bell, the enamelled dial inscribed “CH DUTERTRE A Paris”. 187 x 95 x 43 cm. In cared-for, good restored condition, the clock functioning. (PZ)
