As the present composition differs from the painting in an American private collection, signed and dated 1662, in several details (comp. the publication by Otto Naumann), so that it does not seem to be a copy, but a workshop replica coming from Frans Mieris’ studio.
Provenance: sold in Amsterdam, Mak vanWaay, 16 October 1967, lot 229, with a certificate isssued by Max J. Friedländer of 9 April 1962
