In 1609 Adriaen van Stalbemt received his master’s diploma and in 1618 was appointed dean of the Antwerp guild. He was primarily active in Antwerp, except for a stay in London in 1633. Stalbemt was very successful during his lifetime and became a wealthy man (he is known to have purchased a substantial country estate). Paintings by this master are preserved in almost all major European museums and collections, such as at the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam, the Prado, the Uffizi, the British Museum, etc.
