“White Vibration (1958/59) is part of a group of pictures in which Mack worked with vertically and horizontally arranged parallels. Textures emerge that seem to be floating and permeable, allowing the spectator to discern the strokes drawn by the artist’s hand, but without suggesting inner psychological movements. This painterly means of a dynamic, “vibrating” arrangement of elements recognises the basic linear order of Constructivism as a prerequisite, but rejects its view of the world as a “pre-stabilised harmony” in favour of the reality of visual experience.” Renate Wiehager, “Heinz Mack, Räume der Kunst für Zero-Kosmos und Bild, Natur und Wort, Philosophie und Aktion”, pp. 2-13, in: exhibition catalogue, Beck & Eggeling, Düsseldorf 2006, p. 12
