Adrian von der Werff, Kralingen-Ambacht 21.1.1659-12.11.1722 Rotterdam, Dutch painter. In 1696 he was visited by Prince Elector Johann Wilhelm von der Pfalz, painting for him The Judgment of Solomon, for which commission he was appointed court painter to the Prince Elector and knighted in 1703. 16 of his paintings are in the Pinakothek in Munich, 12 in the Dresdner Galerie. The oil painting, The Judgment of Paris was in the Gemäldegalerie Alte Meister in Dresden, inv. no. 1818, but was destroyed in the 2nd World War. In the 19th century, his paintings were copied onto porcelain. The above image was also executed by the Berlin porcelain painter, E. Bohm. Today it is held by the National Trust in the collection at Anglesey Abbey, Cambridgeshire, inv. no. 513478. Lit.: W.
