Provenance: Stefan von Licht (Lugt 789b) and an anonymous collector’s mark: monogram "Qi" (not in Lugt). A comparable nude study by Francesco Furini for a Saint Sebastian is preserved in the Uffizi in Florence (Gabinetto Disegni e Stampe, Inv. Nr. 9687 F; red chalk, on white paper, 38,4 x 25,7 cm). The posture of the figure in an S-shape, the modelling of the body with heavy reinforced outlines and broad diagonal hatchings are particularly comparabe with the Uffizi sheet. Comparable literature: Die Florentinischen Zeichnungen des Seicento, Exh. cat. Frankfurter Kunstverein (23rd September – 27th November 1988), p. 202, Cat. 104 (with Ill.).
