Description(1660-1726) – A pair of enamelled liqueur cups from Augsburg, silver, gilt, the body with delicately painted amorous scenes, feet with Regency ornaments, Height: 8 cm, Gross Weight: 150 g, without hallmark, circa 1710, (Lu)
A pair of liqueur cups from Augsburg of excellent workmanship. Three similar liqueur cups in the London Victoria & Albert Museum, one also with the signature I. I. Prister. Weinhold note "on a probably 19th Cent base." is incorrect, the bases are original to the period. Cf. enclosed expert's report on the above cups confirming a date of circa 1710, by Prof. Dr. Ernst-Ludwig Richter Lit.: Ulrike Weinhold, Emailmalerei an Augsburger Goldschmiede-arbeiten von 1650-1750, Munich/Berlin 2000, p 54, Cat.
