Jean Baptiste van Moer: He was a landscape painter, but his preference was for city views and historical architecture. Van Moer studied under Francois Bossuets at the Brussels Academy. In search of fresh inspiration, he travelled to France, Italy, Germany, Egypt and Spain. He was also particularly fond of the area around Brussels. Among his most famous clients are numbered Queen Victoria and King Leopold II of Belgium.
