Oskar Kokoschka
(Pöchlarn 1886-1980 Villeneuve) “The Dreaming Boys”, 1907/1908, eight lithographs printed in colours, illustrations for Kokoschka’s prose poem of the same title, with the following sheets added to the text: “Sleeping Woman (Dreaming Girl) - The Sailing Boat - The Skippers’ Call - The Distant Island - Conversing Couples - The Sleepers - Awakening - The Girl Li and I”, as well as three linear etchings based on reed-pen drawings on the cover of the binding, on the dedicatory page, and as a title vignette. With an autograph dedication: “für Gustav Meyrink O Kokoschka, Wien, 16. Juni 08” and with a second dedication below: “Meiner lieben Mimi mit herzlichsten Weihnachtswünschen, Gustav Meyrink, 24. XII.1930” (Mimi was Gustav Meyrink’s daughter), in original cloth binding interlaced with gold threads, 24.5 x 30 cm, published by the Wiener Werkstätte in 1908, printed by Berger & Chwala, Vienna, slightly damaged, Wingler/Welz 22-29, (M)
