| Broker | An authorised agent executing bids on your behalf against payment of a minor fee. |
| Reserve | The minimum price the consigner will accept and below which an item must not be sold. |
| Hammer price | If no further bids are placed, the item will be knocked down to the bidder making the highest bid, i.e., the buyer. |
| Absentee bids | Written instructions from prospective buyers to the auctioneer or a broker to bid on their behalf. |
