Beauty and rarity determine the value of antique carpets as much as their colouring and traditional pattern, which is passed down from generation to generation. From autumn 2010 onwards, the Dorotheum will be holding regular auctions of carpets.
Just as the carpet market is varied, so is the selection offered at the Dorotheum, from old runners and classic hand-knotted Persian carpets to old tapestries and colourful kilim carpets. The gamut of our assortment includes Oriental carpets as well as carpets from the Caucasus and Anatolia, Turkmenistan, Iran and India. Additionally, you will also find a large selection of carpets from Europe, including the Netherlands, France and Austria.
Rare items in our vast selection invite you to buy and sell at our special furniture auctions and within the framework of our regular smaller furniture and antiques auctions (for a complete overview of the items on offer, see our internet page at www.dorotheum.com/dailyauction).
