This work was executed in Rome, during September 1984: Haring dedicated it to the Italian friend who was helping him in realizing some works in the role of technical adviser. The artist employed an old blue painted door with a strange, irregular profile. He covered it with black varnish, leaving only a “window”, a space in which to write a dedication to the friend and to paint one of his famous, dynamic characters.
The idea of re-using an “objet trouvé” connects Haring‘s first pauper “pop” graffiti with its surrealistic origins.
