DescriptionSouth Caucasus, approx. 233 x 117 cm, 2nd half of the 19th century, only a few decades ago were these carpets able to be assigned to the Caucasus-Kurdish Zakatala province, the weavings have no independent pattern repertoire but were made up of a variety of the shapes of the Southern Caucasus, consistent is only the extreme pile depth, usually with archaic, minimalist design patterns, this piece is a particularly well-accomplished representative of its type, with excellent lustrous wool which cannot be seen in a photograph, excellent pile condition, side edges repaired, some repairs on the lengthwise sides and two corners.
