Each item is accompanied by an estimate or starting price that serves as a guideline for you. The estimate reflects the price that our specialists, based on their knowledge of the market, expect will be realised. The initial bid, which starts off the sale of each lot, falls into a range between the lower estimate and half that amount, which means that if you acquire a lot at the starting price or slightly above, you will have managed to make a very advantageous purchase indeed! At any auction the price you are prepared to pay for a certain item is determined exclusively by you.
Please note that the buyer’s premium and legal VAT will be added to the highest bid or hammer price. If the item is subject to differential taxation, which is normally the case, these two will amount to 25%.
To find out more on that subject, please refer to the Dorotheum’s Conditions of Sale.
Please note that auctions held at the Dorotheum in Prague are subject to special provisions.
