Successful sales of paintings by Ferdinand Georg Waldmüller have become a regular occurrence at Dorotheum auctions of 19th century paintings. At the latest such event, on 12th October 2010, another one of this painter's major works, "Die Kranzljungfer" (1843, The Bridesmaid) found a new owner. Perfect in its composition and flooded with light, the genre painting was sold above its upper estimate for 421.300 Euro (Cat. No. 44).
