Door of a rice granary of the Batak from Central Sumatra. Thick, heavy hardwood, coloured black. The front made with a large reptile (crocodile, lizard?) in high relief. A rectangular hole in the belly of the animal for the cross-bars of the door. Age damage with original repairs. Very good, old usage patina. 19th/1st half of the 20th century. H: 113 cm, w: 66 cm.
