The present complete and therefore rare series of etchings "Pitture a fresco del Campo Santo di Pisa" by Lasinio reflects the series of frescoes for a monastary in Pisa which was executed in 1350. Until 1779 the monastary was a tomb for wealthy citizens of Pisa. The etched series by Lasinio is among the oldest and most significant illustrations which were executed in the 19th century after Italian fresco cycles. One prospect was executed in 1806; from 1810 onwards 28 sheets were published; the titlepage appeared in 1812. The earliest editions include either 40 or 41 unnumbered plates with the name and the coat-of-arms of Molini & Landi. After 1816 sheet No 42 was published and Molini erased the name of Landi on the plates, which he then numbered with Latin characters. The sheets of the present album are numbered with Latin characters and bear the name of Molini.
