Caspar Hirscheli (Prague 1698 - 1743)
Still life of flowers with a magnificent vase, oil on panel, 19 x 15 cm, framed, (Wo)
Without reserve
In 1724, due to his extravagant lifestyle, Hirscheli was not in a position to pay the fee for his admission to the Prague guild, so that he lost many public commissions in spite of the high quality of his works. Today his paintings are preserved at the Bayerische Staatsgemäldesammlungen, at the Rudolfinum in Prague, and at the Ferdinandeum in Innsbruck. As to his approach to surface texture and nature, Hirscheli was inspired by Netherlandish artists close to his own culture, such as Roeland Savery or Balthasar van der Ast.
