Gothic figure of the Virgin and Child,
16th Cent., depicted standing, atop a crescent moon, the head slightly inclined to one side, with long flowing hair, her left hand holding the Christ Child, the Child's right arm lovingly embracing the mother's neck, the left hand holding a globe, the Virgin holds a sceptre in her right hand, her gown gathered into four vertical folds below her bosom and extending to the base where it forms angular folds over the forefoot, the cloak arranged into dished folds in front of the body, limewood, the reverse hollowed out, polychromed and gilt, Height: 108 cm, the original paint uncovered, some flaking, refreshed for restoration purposes, gilding of later date, Franconia, 1st Quarter 16th Cent., (Er)
