Proust writes that love must be preferred to any kind of friendship. One is cast back on one’s own self and experiences much more intensively. Do you also think so? In the same way, art is superior to philosophy. Thus love and art almost belong together; they are two dark ways of creation. They belong to the sphere of darkness. They are a couple. Friendship and philosophy exist on the surface. That is why it is so important to perform actions. And you must paint, too. Painting is a bit more difficult. I’ve probably started with Actionism because I was not that good at painting. It is true, I did some beautiful paintings, but in them I was not able to express my ideas satisfactorily. Today I would no longer devote myself to Actionism. I master painting much better. I’ve developed an immense ability, almost like a pianist, and it requires intensive training. You have to be a virtuoso and develop a sense of the lines. That you don’t need to do, being an Actionist. ...
