Italy c. 1600, dark stained walnut frame in turned baluster shape on hoof feet, frieze with linear bone inlays, the top lavishly inlaid with partly dyed mother of pearl in the form of a chess board, alternating engraved mother of pearl and woven intarsia, 2 decorative strips with parforce and spear hunting scenes, mother of pearl border with depictions of warriors and kings, ornamental tendrils with mythical creatures and putti, 80 x 80 x 66 cm, small parts missing, signs of age.
A museum-quality piece.
