Anton Kothgasser, Vienna around 1830(Ru)

Anton Kothgasser, Vienna, 1769-1851, porcelain and glass painter from 1781 at the Wiener Kunstakademie, studied figural drawing with German painter Heinrich Füger, employed at the Wiener Porzellanmanufaktur from 1784 to 1840, as the most significant design painter, painter no. 96. After 1811, he dedicated himself next to and independently of his work for the porcelain makers with glass painting, which he was introduced to by Gottlob Samuel Mohn, twenty years his junior, who moved to Vienna in 1811. He received numerous awards, among other dates on September 6, 1811 and on May 20, 1816 with the permission to 'work on his glass painting at home for some months.' He first dedicated himself to sheet glass painting, but soon preferred hollow glass painting using transparent fusion paint (transparent painting). This technique was invented by Samuel Mohn, who worked on this in particular between 1815 and 1830.
