By the Ansbach clockmaker and mechanic Georg Friedrich Christoph Hausleiter (1791- 1848), dated 1826. A mahogany-veneered desk with crossbanded panels in maple, with ebonised columns at the angles and carved gold-painted bases and capitals, as well as carved applications and latticework with bear heads in Gothic revival style rendered in rosewood, with 2 doors, a fall front writing surface, fitted interior with drawers, sham drawers, and mirror, as well as a copper engraved map by M. Merian from "Tapographia Platinatus Rheni". Desk has a removable pierced and fabric lined upper section with an inbuilt clock with a round spring driven mechanism, inscribed and dated F. Hausleiter/in Ansbach 1826, with date, striking the half hours on gong, under dial work verso, enamelled dial, inscribed "Fried. Hausleiter in Ansbach" with bronze bezel, with a musical movement of the Berlin type with 3 bellows, 1 register, 32 wooden pipes, and 10 cylinders set by Hausleiter. 197 x 110.5 x 60 cm. In addition, 1 weight, 1 winder, 1 pendulum, 2 keys, key. In original condition with insignificant reworking and replacements. The musical movement functioning, the bellows system and the triggering of the musical movement require restoration. (PZ)
