The present works can be compared to a similar composition sold at Finarte in 1991 (sale, Finarte, 19th November 1991, lot 127; see G. Alberti, Inganni dipinti. Trompe-l’oeil nella Fototeca Zeri, Bologna 2015, pp. 103-111). In one of these works there is a poem by the Neapolitan poet Giovan Battista Marino (Naples 1569-1625), part of La Lira (“Honorati Leotardi. Anagramma”, Part III, 1629).
