Central Caucasus, c. 244 x 142 cm, about 1870, on red background a shield motif with gul-like octagonal cores, extremely rare is the light-ground eight-pointed star border in diagonally alternating colours, this carpet displays a superb wool quality, very good pile condition, original side edges and upper warp braiding, the lower end with corner damage only partially preserved, an old patched area to the upper left, two stitched creases in the upper right corner.
