1964 Opel Kapitän A 2.5 liters

1964 Opel Kapitän A 2.5 liters - Historická motorová vozidla

Opel and luxury class vehicles? It’s got a ring to it! Even if it has been awhile, there is an association here with Stuttgart during the economic boom years, and in Munich, only small square or spherical cars were anyway the trend. In 1962, Rüsselsheim presented its new luxury-class model series (which was very much inspired by its GM mother), the Kapitän, Admiral and Diplomat –- the latter even had a V8 engine and came as a coupe in small does starting in 1965. The Kapitän was only available in Austria with a 2.5-liter engine and 90 hp for reasons of taxation.

This early Kapitän A was first registered in Vienna on November 26, 1964. The first owner drove the large Opel until the end of 1981. A curious detail in the Kapitän’s history is that apparently two owners regretted selling the car and took the car back after brief interludes without it. This clearly speaks for the Opel’s quality! You don’t need to check the papers, because the Kapitän knows around to inspire. Its paintwork was renewed in the rare original color, but the interior impresses with its unspoiled originality and charming patina. The engine runs as smooth as silk and is seamlessly integrated into the rest of the appearance. The Kapitän brings a (large) piece of the Wirtschaftswunder into the garage and will delight its new owner with the flair of bygone Rüsselsheimer luxury class days!
