Lit.: VEB Staatliche Porzellan-Manufaktur Meissen. This series of musical monkeys by Johann Joachim Kändler are based on French models dating to ca. 1750, with male musicians and female singers. In 1765, Peter Reinicke restored and completed the monkey chapel. According to historical tradition, the orchestra represents a caricature of Count Brühl’s musicians.
