Northeast China, c. 186 x 127 cm, second half of the 19th century, silk carpet with embedded metal threads on cotton foundation as was mostly typical of items intended for the imperial palace, five dragon motifs in the background serve as spandrels and central disc medallion, very beautiful main border with Buddhist emblems and alternating median design, excellent condition with full pile and soft feel, a slight “bleeding” effect is visible as a result of red overcolouring.
