Brussels (Netherlands), 335 x 329 cm, first third of the 17th century, monumental pictorial carpet made of wool and silk, the Roman scene features Emperor Gaius Julius Caesar, sitting on a throne with winged lions, with an advisor, a guard and the captive Gaul Vercingetorix, who was later executed, the figures are very realistic and still display good colours, large border frame typical of the period with vases, fruit shrubs and emblem on the upper border, the image is complete, galloon with Brussels city mark repaired all around, trimmed in the upper section, brown slightly oxidised otherwise in good condition in keeping with its age, mounted on linen on the back.
