We are grateful to Fred Meijer for confirming the authenticity of the present painting. Two comparable works by the hand of this monogrammist figured in a Spanish private collection in 1971. Fred Meijer assumes that the painter worked for such art dealers as Forchondt in Antwerp and produced his paintings for the Spanish market.
