We are grateful to Ellis Dullaart for her kind support in cataloguing the present painting. Almost identical compositions by Claes Molenaer were sold at Christie’s, New York, on 18 June 1982 (lot 62) and at Sotheby's, London, on 17 December 1998 (lot 321).
