The present work may be compared with the Portrait of Duke Carlo Emanuele di Savoia I in Saluzzo (Museo Civico Casa Cavassa), datable to circa 1590 and with another portrait of Carlo Emanuele I (see: Il nostro pittore fiammengo. Giovanni Caracca alla Corte dei Savoia (1568–1607), ed. by P. Astrua / A. M. Bava / C. E. Spantigati, exhibition catalogue, Turin 2005, p. 32, fig. 7).
