Shirvan,
East Caucasus, c. 180 x 140 cm, about 1900, carpets, such as the present one, decorated with domes, columns and architecture are referred to as “mosque type”, specimens of this group can be found among the carpets of the Baluch tribes but are rather rare in the Caucasus, over-dimensional border pattern, both ends with kilims and mesh-braided warp threads, slightly low pile, otherwise well preserved.
