1: Two work knives with interesting, asymmetrical, double-edged blade shapes and long, round, black coloured wooden handles. The handle of the larger knife is attached to the blade by means of an iron band wrapped in a spiral. Both knives show very old usage patina on their handles. L: 38.5 cm; 37.2 cm. Both blades are rusty as a result of prolonged improper storage.
2: A belt of the Wagenia, a tribe of fishermen near the Congo River, in the Kisangani region in northeastern Congo: The Wagenia belt consists of four hanks of vegetable fibre cords, to which a dense set of small brass rings is attached. With four ‘spreaders’ made of wood. An inscribed collection label is attached.
