Mixed lot (4 items), Ashanti or Baule, Ghana, Ivory Coast: 4 large, figural ‘gold-weights' of the Akan tribes.

1: A rider astride his horse, with high plaited coiffure, beard, reins and a whip. Horse with casting defect. H: 7.5 cm; L: 7 cm.
2: A crocodile holding a fish in its mouth, L: 9.3 cm.
3: Two crossed and pierced swords, with a triangular crest. H: 8 cm, W: 9 cm.
4: A ceremonial sword with knops, with an ape’s skull (gorilla?) cast in a single piece. L: 9 cm. All four objects made of yellow cast-alloy (brass), executed with ‘waste mould’ casting. With good, old usage patina.
First half of the 20th century.
