South Turkestan? c. 206 x 170 cm, about 1800, despite being heavily worn and with some bare pile areas, the present tent door carpet is by all means worth collecting on the grounds of its archaic patterns; its remarkably large border and central panel decoration suggest that the carpet could also be assigned to the north eastern regions near Uzbekistan or Kazakhstan, unique specimens are the upper left corner spandrel and the incompletely knotted ‘Sainak’ border at the upper end with braided warp threads, thus both original ends preserved, bare areas with partly exposed warp threads, edge damages.
