„The Volumi were then born. In a sudden yet decisive gesture, Dada cuts the surface of the canvas. She doesn‘t limit herself to a modest incision: she cuts a vast hole, a pervasive ellipsis. The fabric opens like an eye to reveal the emptiness. The place of the painting is now a place of silence. Of the canvas, reduced to a frame of space, only the corners remain: these appear somewhat puffy, like the edges of a wound.“
