Mixed lot (2 items): Tibet: Two ‘lighters’ made of leather and iron, with rich decorations.
1: A Tibetan ‘lighter’ consisting of a leather pouch for flint and tinder (empty), with a firmly attached, thick striking iron. Decorations on the front made of silver and brass, cast and engraved leaf and floral tendrils, a turquoise stone set in the centre. On the backside are 10 hemispheres made of brass. The hanger made of brass with an iron ring. Dimensions: 12.5 x 10 cm.
2: A Tibetan ‘lighter, probably from east Tibet, consisting of a leather pouch for flint and tinder (2 flint stones present), with a firmly attached, thick striking iron. With decorations made of cut-out and engraved iron and copper rivets. Chinese characters are engraved in the iron decorations on the left and right. An embossed and engraved hemisphere made of white metal sheet in the centre. The hanger is made of iron, with an amber pearl on a leather band. Dimensions: 17 x 14 cm. (ME)
