Mixed lot (2 items): Morocco: A pair of large robe fibulae made of silver, decorated with corals and amazonites.
A pair of elaborately designed robe fibulae with which women in Morocco would fasten their wrap dresses on their shoulders. The present, especially beautiful and unusually large pair of fibulae is cast from quality silver and engraved. Decorated with six red corals and two green amazonites each as ‘ornamental stones’. Also engraved is the otherwise smooth backside. Tribe: Ait Baha, southern Atlantic coast of Morocco. With good, old usage patina. First third of the 20th century; L: each 26 cm, W: each 12.5 cm. (ME)
