Shona or Ndebele, Zimbabwe: A large beer jug, sewn in cow fur.
An unusually large ceramic beer jug, of dark brown colour and decorated with a fine, geometric etched pattern. This interesting, old object is almost entirely sewn in brown, spotted cow fur. Good, old patina and only minor age-related damage. First third to half of the 20th century; H: 42 cm, DM: c. 50 cm (bulge of the vessel), 20 cm (spout). (ME)
