Two horse blankets, - Orientální koberce, textilie a tapiserie

Tibet, 19th century, horse blanket, oval, c. 136 x 67 cm, this piece was used between the horse’s back and the saddle, four openings secured with leather for saddle straps, the carpet was probably made with two parts, it is secured with linen at its upper centre and upholstered with wool on its underside, framed with wool all around, beautiful woven image with one disc medallion each and the so-called “frog foot pattern” on red background, slight signs of age and use. Saddle blanket, oval, c. 88 x 59 cm, with matching pattern, this padding was used directly on the saddle both as a decorative element and for comfort, good condition, trimmed with two-coloured wool, early, rare collector’s piece.
