This is the central recitative of the Nichiren Buddhist practice. The recitation of this so-called daimoku enables the Buddha nature existing in every human being to manifest itself, or the believer to become Buddha already in this life. The Seinakayama Temple, known by the name Hokekyoji, founded in 1260 by Nichiren Shonin, to this day remains an important temple of the Nichiren School (hoke-shu), in which several ‘National ‘Treasures’ are preserved.
