At around fifteen years I entered a studio of architects and engineers and things began to become real and very serious for me. They planned regulatory projects, factories, residences. It was feverish work, rather the antithesis of my nature, and I remember that their way of working released in me a demand for the sharpening of detail, of minimal analysis. [...] In this way I began the process of intensification, of making, and of understanding, which has always been at the base of my work. Light beat down on black enamel, which at that point became white: this made me understand how light determines the visual dynamic of things. From here came the research of its phenomenology and of the materials in which it could make itself more evident. And here the materials, the steel, the aluminium, the first “light line”.
