A splendid Tyrolean rustic chest,
known as a ‘Sockeltruhe‘, probably Upper Inn Valley, late 17th century, Swiss pine chest with remains of paint and finish, indistinctly inscribed and dated 1697, the frontal division arranged with pilasters and arches, carved with relief decoration, original lock with key, an interior compartment with secret section, 103 x 68 x 75 cm, nearly original condition, counter bracket of the lock supplemented. (PZ) Provenance: Austrian castle collection.
