The present drawing goes back to a composition with Christ in the House of Simon by Subleyras; the painting and an oil sketch are preserved in the Musée du Louvre, Paris (Inv. 8000, 8001). Subleyras also reproduced the composition with an etching (Robert-Dumesnil 3).
