Portrait of a young nobleman, oil on canvas, 61.5 x 53 cm framed
Due to its style, the present painting is clearly assignable to a Venetian portraitist who borrowed from such artists as Titian, Tintoretto, Toeput, and Paolo Fiammingo. The warm tones of the juvenile complexion, the natural charm of the face, and the choice of background colours suggest a remarkable closeness to Jacopo Tintoretto. The present painting shows similarities to the Portrait of a Young Man with Petrarchino (Rome, Galleria Colonna) by Domenico Tintoretto.
