Drs Rudi Ekkart of the RKD, The Hague, who has seen the picture in the original, has confirmed it to be an authentic work by Westerbaen, a portrait painter from The Hague. Comparable with this work by Westerbaen is the portrait of Sophia van Overmeer, dated 1650, held in the Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam.
