We are grateful to Professor Alberto Crispo for confirming attribution of the present painting on the basis of a photograph.
Ignaz Stern came from Southern Germany and trained under Carlo Cignani in Bologna. Later the artist went to Rome, where he painted frescoes and easel paintings.
