Provenance:
Galerie Schoeller, Düsseldorf

“The method of stereoscopic interference is based on the principle of the spatial superimposition of grids. If the frequency of the lines on the front and rear levels is arranged in such a way that they create a corresponding secondary image for the viewer, this leads to the impression of a deceptively real spatial dimension. The advantage of this is that the space is simulated for the viewer without any optical device being used. This means that interference patterns can exist both behind and in front of the level of the image. The latter had not previously been possible in visual art, but now the space between the image and the viewer can be shaped using this technique, thus enabling it to be perceived by the senses.”
Ludwig Wilding, Ludwig Wilding, Retrospektive 1945-1987, exhibition catalogue, Pfalzgalerie Kaiserslautern, Städtische Galerie Lüdenscheid, Ulmer Museum, 1987, p. 139
