…naturally I have no more enjoyment in producing art. Nor do I want to do any more Actions. I think it is simply too idiotic [memory of idiotic art as means of rating the Happenings of the previous year? É. A.] Leading people a merry dance. What is this? I don’t want to stop, rather to let everything in life be overrun. And I must say, it works. I want to become a magician. That is more important to me. I want to get on with the portfolio again in winter, I look at everything quite differently from a year ago. I had an aversion to making pictures, as something inferior. Now I recognise that it’s also a medium, a good occupation, one I can get a lot out of, when it doesn’t become one’s aim in life or even substitute for life. My Actions were in danger of becoming just that.
